About Hue Eco Homestay
Background
Vietnam is one of the top five countries in the world producing non-biodegradable waste such as plastic and nylon. If this situation continues, experts predict that by 2050, plastic waste may outweigh marine life, covering rivers and oceans from the bottom to the surface. Vietnam is also among the countries most vulnerable to climate change. Rising sea levels threaten the fertile lowlands of the southern region, known as the country’s agricultural heart, where millions of people live and depend on the land for their livelihoods. With a strong desire to help reduce these impacts and protect the environment, Hue Eco Homestay was created. Our mission is to spread eco-friendly accommodation models and encourage responsible waste sorting in daily life. Through shared efforts, we hope to reduce environmental harm and help protect our planet.
Green Vision
With a vision for a greener life, Hue Eco Homestay turns discarded materials into unique designs through recycling and creative reuse. The homestay is also a source of inspiration for eco-bricks, helping reduce plastic bottles and nylon waste that are harmful to the environment. Our slogan, “Không chừ biết khi mô / When if not now,” is a call to action. It encourages everyone to take part in protecting the environment, not only at Hue Eco Homestay, but also throughout Hue City.
Our Mission
To connect people who care about the planet and want to make the world better through environmentally friendly ideas and initiatives.
Core Values
Inspire people and other eco-homestays. Contribute positively to the environment and the community. Be kind to guests and nature. Act responsibly toward Hue and meaningful actions. Save resources in daily operations and reuse materials. Care for all resources, especially plastic waste and unused household items.
Our Journey
On Earth Day (April 22), we called on the community through Facebook to join hands in making eco-bricks from plastic waste.
We received strong support from Quoc Hoc Green Club, Hue Green Club, volunteer students from Hue University’s Tourism Department, and many individuals and organizations who care about the environment.
Family items no longer in use, such as a wooden ladder saved after the historic 1999 flood and a wooden bench set from 1974, were restored and repurposed into useful furnishings at the homestay.
For over two years, recyclable waste and scrap materials were carefully collected and kept to develop recycled products with thoughtful design.
Message
Almost all recycled items at the homestay are handmade.
This shows that anyone can create something meaningful in their own way.
You can turn waste into unique details for your home while helping reduce plastic pollution. Through this, Hue Eco Homestay aims to share the 4R message — Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle — together with our slogan “When if not now,” encouraging guests to join us in protecting a greener living environment.
